Tips to make your house greener
Everybody talks about caring for the environment, but do they actually care? Did you know that The USA produces trash daily that is equal to the weight of the Empire State Building? While it is known that most of the damage done to our planet comes from an unplanned industrial development by the big companies, we can’t deny our responsibility as individuals. There are some small actions that we can all implement in our homes to preserve our planet. However, most people don’t have good green practices at home, mainly because they don’t realize how easy it is to protect the environment.
We are convinced that small actions make a big difference, so we thought of sharing some easy tips to make your house greener. Follow them, and you’ll also be saving some bucks in the process.
Use less plastic
Yeah, it may sound obvious, but have you ever stop to think about how much plastic waste you generate? With the pandemic, food delivery went up everywhere. Most food businesses sent their delicious food in plastic containers. You can start by avoiding those businesses and order from those that perform greener practices. Stop using straws (they’re useless anyway) and plastic bags. Also, get a reusable water bottle instead of buying disposables. Look for reusable alternatives; they can be found everywhere. It’s easy, and you’ll feel good about yourself.
Enter energy-saving mode
This is one that we all should implement at home and at the office. Replacing the old light bulbs with LED ones significantly impacts energy consumption, hence less pollution and, of course, a lot of money-saving for you. But changing the lights is not enough; you need to turn off any lights and unplug all electronic devices you don’t use until you do. You may not know, but the standby mode on your TV or game console is energy-consuming. Unplug them! Also, seek to make the most of external lightning. A few changes at home will help you conserve a lot of energy. It may sound tedious, but you’ll see the difference in your bill in a couple of months, and you’ll be doing your part for the planet.
Recycling is the name of the game
This is the easiest way to contribute to preserving the environment. Why? Cause you’re probably doing it already! It’s 2021, so there are many rules about trash separation and recycling everywhere. There may be some recycling bins in your area, or you can even create yours at home. Fruits, vegetables, and other organics can go in one container—Paper, plastic, and metal in separate ones. -You can even create your own compost from food scraps to enrich your garden. Separating also makes the work for the garbage disposal companies easier.
Install Solar panels
Ok, we’re talking big actions here, but they’re totally worthy! Solar panels are not only eco-friendly but budget-friendly as well. While the initial investment may be high, the return will come in just a few years. Your bills can come down to zero, and you’ll be powering your home from our mighty ever shining sun! Sounds utopic, but imagine a world with no more fossil fuels emitting toxic gases to create energy! We could drastically reduce global warming with solar panels.
These are just a few, but there’s plenty of green practices that everyone can implement at home to help preserve our planet and save a few bucks in the process. Start with these simple steps and inspire people around you to do the same. This planet is our only house; let’s keep it neat!
